2012-02-24 00:00 - Guitarist/vocalist Helmuth Lehner, of extreme metal commando BELPHEGOR, has revealed that the group is working on fresh material for their tenth full-length album. The as of yet untitled record is tentatively slated for a late 2012 release, and will be the follow up to January 2011´s Blood Magick Necreomance. From this coming Saturday until next Wednesday, BELPHEGOR will start the first rehearsal session for the album, in Abtenau, Austria. The drum duties will again be handled by Mr. Marthyn, who did an outstanding job on Blood Magick Necreomance.


“It’s amazing to have the opportunity to be creative again and compose a new audible monster," commented Helmuth. “I begun the compositions in November 2011, after I had to spend five weeks in the hospital and 6 weeks in a rehabilitation center because of my health issues. I survived this hard trial, which still seems unreal. I’m not fully recovered but feel way better now, I can say. Unfortunately we had to cancel all tours until June 2012, when we will get back on the road, and will start with some European open air rituals."

"At this time, we don’t feel the pressure of a hard touring schedule and all the rigors surrounding that,” stated bass devastator Serpenth., “The way we can concentrate and create these arrangements in a completely focused way and can even put more energy, blood and guts inside. We are working intensely on ten tracks. We are totally concentrated, you know, the musick reigns above all. Magick. It’s time for a new chapter."

Austrian blackened death metal outfit BELPHEGOR will enter Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida on May 29 with producer Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, MORBID ANGEL, CANNIBAL CORPSE) to begin recording its as-yet-untitled new album for a late 2012 release via Nuclear Blast Records.

Commented guitarist/vocalist Helmuth Lehner: "Around 2006 I have contact Erik the first time, I guess. We talked about the producing of the 'Bondage Goat Zombie' album, but he wasn’t available. This time, we have to do it! Our sound, attitude… or let's say trademark, is a symbiosis of all extremities that came out of this glorious genre… Diabolical black death metal.

"Since February 2012, we rehearse and write hard on nine shredding sound collages.

"To record chapter X with Erik is perfect, since he exactly know what we need and how we get this shit done.

"The thing is, the new compositions are full of intensity and pure aggression. The combination of European metal coldness, atmosphere and sickest elements crossed with an American brutal sound is the master plan. This experiment is going to be ultra-sick!

"I dig to work with motivated, possessed and enthusiastic artists, to keep the fire burning, in all related things (producers, musicians, etc.) No rules, all is permitted. This is the main reason why BELPHEGOR survived almost 20 years."

Added Rutan: "I am very excited to be recording and mixing the new BELPHEGOR album at Mana. After many discussions with Helmuth and hearing some clips of new material, I know that the band is very focused and determined on making a harmoniously evil extreme masterpiece. We shall make one beast of an album that the fans have come to expect from BELPHEGOR!"

We are proud to announce that on the 7th of May 2012, the first Watain film will be released. Its title will be Opus Diaboli. Opus Diaboli is the commemoration of Watain's 13 year Anniversary. A visual and audial documentation of the ceremonial concert performance in Stockholm and the long years of physical, intellectual and spiritual work leading up to it.
90 minutes of wildhearted Satanic Metal!

Two versions will be made available; one regular DVD that apart from the DVD will also contain two bonus CDs including the audio recording of the full 13 Year Anniversary concert in Stockholm.
The second version of Opus Diaboli will be a limited vinyl box including the DVD, 2 audio CDs with the live recording, 2 LPs with the live recording, and last but definitely not least a historical photobook containing old flyers and never seen photos, most of them taken off stage.

This will be the first release of Watain's own label, His Master's Noise. Both versions are now available for pre-order through the official merch store WOLF WEAR.

The band comments;
�This movie was first meant to be the recording of our 13 Year Anniversary concert, but as everything with Watain it took on a life on it�s own and became one of our most ambitious projects to date. It is a very personal and emotional piece of work and certainly not for the faint at heart. But for those who wish to explore the glimmering abyss of Watain further, this will be a rewarding release for sure.

Apart from the movie, we are also very proud of the photobook that comes with the box set. It was an overwhelming experience going through the massive archives in search of the photos that best summed up the storm of passionate turmoil that has been our journey,
especially since we wanted to stay away from live photos and focus more on moments off stage. The result was however very satisfying, a rare and spicy mixture of photos of which most have never been published before.

We can also announce that this will be the first release on our own label �His Master�s Noise�, a name originating from Bathory's mastermind Quorthon who had it in mind for his own label back in the early 1980s. Just like with our own merch store wolfwear.net, this time we have chosen to stand by our own and do things our way, without corporate hands between us and our supporters.

As of February 2012, REV 16:8 as a band is no more.
The reason for the decision is solely personal, and the decision is mutual for the people involved.
The recording session that would have taken place in June at Endarker Studio has been cancelled and no more recordings will be done from this band in the future.

Indie Recordings has announced the signing of the Norwegian black metal band BLODHEMN.

BLODHEMN saw the light of night in 2004 as a one-man black metal band formed by Invisus as an outlet for his need to spread his music and lyrics. The first demos raised a lot of eyebrows in the underground scene in 2008, and the critically acclaimed EP "Brenn Alle Bruer" from 2010 made it clear that Invisus and BLODHEMN were very serious about what they were doing. BLODHEMN became an underground phenomena, and also earned a reputation as a stunning live band which amongst others resulted in them being handpicked to play the Norwegian industry festival By:Larm in 2011 at the main stage. The title track from "Brenn Alle Bruer" was also played a lot on national rock radio.

On 21st of may the 3rd studio session will start with the recording of the last missing parts of keyboards and acoustic guitars, furthermore the additional instruments and percussions. After that we will go over to record the clean vocals, choirs and screams. So far there´s no fixed date for the final mix and mastering.

Although not all the details are settled, it´s time now for the confirmation of the first Falkenbach EP ever: -Asa-
Featuring two songs, both recorded for this release only.
Plus a third song as bonus, a re-recording of an old track.
Currently we think about adding maybe a fourth song, taken from the upcoming full-length album, possibly slightly different recorded and/or mixed, but we are not sure about this idea yet.
It will be published on LP- and CD format,both in limited edition.
The exact limitation is not appointed yet,but will be like
min. 500 / max. 1000 copies. A release date is not fixed at this time, but expect this EP to be released a couple of months earlier than the full-length album. Pre-orders for this EP will be possible in the near future, probably via Prophecy only.

ARTWORK AND DETAILS OF UPCOMING COVERS EP FROM NIKLAS KVARFORTH’S SHINING REVEALED
Sweden’s SHINING is set to release an EP of cover songs with a choice of material that will come as a surprise to many of the band’s fans. The four-track EP, titled “Lots of Girls Gonna Get Hurt”, includes tracks from KATATONIA, KENT, IMPERIET and POETS OF THE FALL, and is due for release on Spinefarm Records on the 16th of May. Whilst KATATONIA is an internationally recognised name, KENT and Thåström’s IMPERIET are relatively unknown outside of Sweden, where they are two of the country’s biggest names, and POETS OF THE FALL is a Finnish band with a substantial following in their own country. Cover art is by Pauline Greefhorst.
Commenting on the decision to release an EP of covers, as well as on the choice of material, SHINING’s front man and founder Niklas Kvarforth had this to say: “In no way should this EP be seen as a new direction for SHINING, and it is absolutely no indication of what you can expect from our upcoming eighth album. Like most musicians neither myself, nor the rest of the band, restrict ourselves to listening to only one genre of music. We all have eclectic tastes, and finding ourselves with some spare time in the studio, we recorded a total of six covers, and decided to release four of them. This EP simply represents some of the artists and music that we like. We know that those fans of SHINING who limit themselves to a narrow musical spectrum will hate the album, but that really is of no concern to us”.

THE WRETCHED END starts recording new album.

THE WRETCHED END, formed in 2008 as creative collaboration between Samoth (Emperor/ Zyklon) and Cosmo (Mindgrinder), are currently heading into Strand Studio, Oslo, to record the drumtracks for the follow up to last years debut album “Ominous”. Once again it is Swedish skinbasher Nils Fjellström (aka Dominator from Dark Funeral, Aeon and In Battle) who’s behind the kit.

The new album is tentatively entitled “Inroads” and confirmed song titles include: “Death by Nature”, “Cold Iron Soul”, “Blackthorn Winter”, “Fear Propaganda”, “Hunger”, “Throne Renowned of Old”, “Tyrant of the Mountain”, “Deathtopian Society” and “The Haunting Ground”

The album recording is scheduled to be completed by the end 2011 and is tentatively scheduled for release in the first half of 2012 through Nocturnal Art Productions/ Candlelight Records.

Our endless quest to unveil treasures hidden in the deepest abyss of the underground continues today with the signing of relatively-unknown duo MANETHEREN.

Forget about the once old school Black Metal band lurking around since 2003 and welcome this renewed entity strengthened by drummer Thorns (NOCTERNITY, FROSTMOON ECLIPSE...). South Carolina-based extreme technical death metallers NILE have finished recording their new album and are scheduled to begin mixing the effort this weekend. The band's guitarist/vocalist Karl Sanders previously stated about NILE's new material, "Some of the drumming on this record will be boggling people's minds for years to come."
