- The result is a hard hitting and great sounding collection of tracks sounding the way Varg wanted the tracks to sound and to be heard by his dedicated fans and supporters.
- Its an album that will cement the legacy of Burzum and that is dedicated to Pytten for his gratitude and perseverance in relation to Burzum.
- Burzum says of the new album: "From the Depths of Darkness was recorded and decided to be released because I always meant that the original recordings didn't do justice to the music, and I wanted to hear the tracks as they were intended by me back in 1991 and 1992, when these tracks were made, and to share this with those interested."

Latest band to sign to A.A. Nemtheanga's Poison Tongue Records!

Almighty PILGRIM, a three-piece doom metal band from Rhode Island, USA! With a mix of destruction, misery and beauty, these young disciples of doom blend a surprisingly original sword & sorcery feel with the classic chest-caving heaviness of the masters, Black Sabbath, Saint Vitus, Reverend Bizarre and Pentagram. Their thick walls of majestically darkened guitar, massive booming bass, and dangerously powerful yet calculated drumming lull listeners into an intense dream-like trance, abducting them to places they never knew were dwelling within their own minds.

PILGRIM about their debut album Misery Wizard: "Misery Wizard" is a sonic journey through a strange and mystical legend. Hidden within are the twisted tales of the evil demons, ancient aliens and powerful sorcerers that once inhabited the dark realms of our fable. We wanted to make a record that harnessed the foreboding sounds of classic doom metal and mesh it with our tales of high-fantasy.

We're influenced by dark, heavy music, Black Sabbath, Saint Vitus, Reverend Bizarre, Darkthrone, Burzum and the like. Unlike a lot of modern musicians, we wanted to pay tribute to these bands without BEING them, so to speak. I think originality and individuality is a staple of this record. PILGRIM formed in early 2010 and was built on the worship of "true doom metal". Krolg, the Slayer of Man (drums), Count Elric the Soothsayer (bass) and The Wizard (guitars and vocals) have set out on a holy pilgrimage of domination through amplification.

South Carolina-based extreme technical death metallers NILE have finished recording the drums for their new album for an early 2012 release. Guitarist/vocalist Karl Sanders states, George [Kollias, drums], Dallas [Toler-Wade, guitar/vocals], [producer] Neil Kernon and I spent a week with Bob Moore at the Soundlab in Columbia, South Carolina tracking drums. We were expecting a long grueling session — some of this material is very compositionally challenging and technically demanding — but George knocked it out, finishing a full week ahead of schedule.

"Oh my God. Some of the drumming on this record will be boggling people's minds for years to come.

"At the moment we are back in Greenville, and will commence tracking guitars any day now."

UFOMAMMUT, Northern Italy's sorcerers of supernatural and obliterating doom, have completed the recordings for their sixth full-length — their first as part of the Neurot Recordings family. This week we are beyond excited to announce the details of this highly anticipated, mammoth follow-up to their 2010 full-length "Eve", the band's most critically-acclaimed and devastating piece of magic to date... until now.

"Oro" is the title for UFOMAMMUT's follow-up to 2010's "Eve" and is divided into ten massive movements overall which is now confirmed to be delivered in two separate pieces during the coming year. The first chapter, "Opus Primum", will arrive in April, and the second, "Opus Alter", in September. The vinyl versions of both chapters will be handled directly by UFOMAMMUT's own label Supernatural Cat Records, who were responsible for the release of all of the band's previous material. This is the third album in a row the band recorded with Lorenzo Stecconi.

As with all previous UFOMAMMUT albums, the concepts behind "Oro" are expansive and multi-faceted, mutating the Italian palindrome which translates to "gold" with the Latin translation of "I prey." "Oro" explores the concept of knowledge and its power; the magical stream controlled by the human mind to gain control of every single particle of the world surrounding us. "Oro" is the alchemical process to transform the human fears into pure essence; into gold. Although "Oro"'s two chapters will be released months apart from each other, they must be considered as a single track in which the musical themes and the sounds show up and hide, mutating and evolving, progressively and increasingly stratifying culminating in the crushing final movement. "Oro" is like an alchemic laboratory in which substances are flowing, dividing and blending themselves in ten increments from the alembics and stills, culminating into the creation of gold. The band are also in the process of crafting a full video/visual version of "Oro" which will accompany the audio.


2012 will see the band expanding their touring circles wider across the face of the planet in support of "Oro".

Season Of Mist has announced the signing of doom legends SAINT VITUS. The band has just completed work on its eighth studio album, its first since 1995, for an early 2012 release.

SAINT VITUS' current lineup features guitarist Dave Chandler, drummer Henry Vasquez, bassist Mark Adams and seminal vocalist Scott "Wino" Weinrich.

"Making this album was really a blast," says Chandler. "Being able to live in an environment where all we had to concentrate on was the new material, became very inspiring. And along with our new drummer, Henry Vasquez, and label, Season Of Mist, this record has given us a new opportunity to show everyone that we still have more to shove in your face."

When asked why he thinks SAINT VITUS' music continues to resonate, Wino said in an interview, "Because it comes from the gut. The music has that low tone and it hits you in those emotional places. I've always tried to make the lyrics just as interesting as the music. It's always been a little bit dark but I'm not drawn to the happy stuff. I like music that grabs you by the balls."

As previously announced, US Doom legends SAINT VITUS recently completed the recording of their eighth studio album, their first since 1995. This forthcoming opus, marking the return of seminal vocalist Scott "Wino" Weinrich, is entitled "Lillie: F-65" and has been tentatively scheduled for a March 23rd (27th in North America), 2012 release.

THE WRETCHED END starts recording new album.

THE WRETCHED END, formed in 2008 as creative collaboration between Samoth (Emperor/ Zyklon) and Cosmo (Mindgrinder), are currently heading into Strand Studio, Oslo, to record the drumtracks for the follow up to last years debut album “Ominous”. Once again it is Swedish skinbasher Nils Fjellström (aka Dominator from Dark Funeral, Aeon and In Battle) who’s behind the kit.

The new album is tentatively entitled “Inroads” and confirmed song titles include: “Death by Nature”, “Cold Iron Soul”, “Blackthorn Winter”, “Fear Propaganda”, “Hunger”, “Throne Renowned of Old”, “Tyrant of the Mountain”, “Deathtopian Society” and “The Haunting Ground”

The album recording is scheduled to be completed by the end 2011 and is tentatively scheduled for release in the first half of 2012 through Nocturnal Art Productions/ Candlelight Records.

Dutch doom death metal legends ASPHYX have completed work on their new studio album, "Deathhammer", for a February 27, 2012 release in Europe and February 28, 2012 in North America via Century Media Records.

The cover artwork for "Deathhammer" was created by ASPHYX's longtime partner in designs, Axel Hermann. Hermann not only worked on all of the early ASPHYX artworks and most recently on their "Live Death Doom" release, but is also responsible for many of the classic Century Media artworks by bands like MORGOTH, UNLEASHED, SAMAEL and GRAVE.

Commented ASPHYX's Martin van Drunen: "ASPHYX and Axel Hermann is a fusion that has always functioned perfectly… from the days of 'The Rack' back in 1991, 'till 'Deathhammer' in 2012. Like others such as Dan Swanö, Axel may be considered as an external member of the band and when we asked him to do the 'Deathhammer' cover — and as usual we would leave him free in his expression — we were very pleased to hear he was willing to take it on. …And the man has exceeded himself! To the perfect death metal album comes the perfect cover that still leaves enough to everyone's imagination. We hope he is as proud as we are on the final result. It seems all falls into place for this deathdozer of an album. I guess Axel can expect an offer from Le Louvre any time now."

Added Hermann: "A cover is the visual extension of an album that translates music and emotional intentions (or should I say aggression) into a clear statement of what to expect before taking the record off the shelf. In seldom cases you're ending up with two perfect sides of the same coin. With ASPHYX and myself, it has always and luckily been that case. And I am really proud of that! Show 'em death and hit them with a hammer…visually and musically! Guess, we flipped the coin once more!?"

Recorded at The Mörser Studio as well as at Harrow Studio with ASPHYX's longtime engineer Harry Wijering, "Deathhammer" was mixed and mastered in Sweden by Dan Swanö, who previously worked with the band on "Death…The Brutal Way" and "Live Death Doom" releases. “In Somniphobia” is a sonic nightmare that lasts for more than an hour. The musical direction is pretty much far removed from that of the last two albums, "Scenes from Hell" and "Hangman's Hymn". It is not easy to describe its direction, but probably one can say that it is something between "Imaginary Sonicscape", "Hail Horror Hail" and "Gallows Gallery", or rather, simply a nightmarish version of "Imaginary Sonicscape". Put heavy metal, classical music, jazz, Indian traditional music, Stockhausen, and Xenakis into a cauldron of hell and stir it, you'll get "In Somniphobia". This is surrealistic, ethnic, druggy, atmospheric and definitely scary! Lots of vintage gems were used in the making of the album such as a Minimoog, Prophet-5, Clavinet D-6, Roland RE-201 Space Echo etc. along with some ethnic instruments like Indian Sarangi, Sitar, Tampura, and Tabla. Kam Lee (ex-Massacre, Bone Gnawer etc.) and Metatron (The Meads of Asphodel) cooperated with the lyrics and the vocals for “Lucid Nightmares”.
