Time is closing on us and as I type these letters the third chapter of Lönndom, Viddernas Tolv Kapitel is being mastered.

Now we only have to wait for it's release spot. Which won't be that far away.

THULCANDRA - the reactivated German black/death metal band featuring members of OBSCURA, DARK FORTRESS and HELFAHRT - has completed work on its new album, "Fallen Angels Dominion", at Woodshed Studios with producers V. Santura and Steffen Kummerer.
We are very proud to announce our signing to the Austrian label Napalm Records.

German black metallers DARK FORTRESS will release their new album, "Ylem", via Century Media Records on the following dates:

Germany, Austria, Switzerland: January 22, 2010
Rest of Europe: January 25, 2010
USA: February 9, 2010

Unlike the last DARK FORTRESS album, "Eidolon", "Ylem" is not strictly a concept album; however, most songs have a common theme — invocations of the death principle from different perspectives.

"Ylem" is the term for the state of the elements before the Big Bang; in alchemy, it refers to the primordial matter from which all elements were created. The return to a state of "Ylem" automatically signifies the end of everything that exists now. There is a spark of life in every living cell, but also a seed of entropy and death. The insignificance of the feeble evolutionary detour that is man is evident, for our future is clear: we will be nothing but dust and bones on a scorched, lifeless rock waiting to be devoured by the sun. This vision is also the basis of Stephen Lenfestey's artwork for the album (see image below).

Musically, it is safe to say that DARK FORTRESS took the next step in its development — as the band have always done. "We all keep growing as musicians, and we would never make the same album twice," explains vocalist Morean. "Where 'Eidolon' was a compact missile, shot to kill instantly, on 'Ylem' we explore the stylistic diversity inherent in this band deeper than ever before. There is a lot of slow, very heavy stuff going on, some truly rotten clean parts, but also insane blastbeats, some orchestral darkness, and tons of killer riffs to break your neck to. It is our ambition that every song is its own world and has a strong and unmistakable identity. We exploited this ambition to the fullest here."

"Ylem" was recorded at V. Santura's (TRIPTYKON, NONEUCLID, CELTIC FROST) Woodshed Studio without any outside influences or distractions.

After a few years of silence SZRON is working on their next album and songs for the upcoming split EP w/CULTES DES GHOULES.
Both these releases will be available sooner or later…

I'm glad to announce you that Audrey S will perform vocals on a new project including members of Lifelover.The project is untitled yet, but next month Audrey will go to Sweden in order to record in Kim Carlsson's studio.

She will also record some vocals for another side project including the same members. Stay tuned for more information!

Norwegian Black Metallers DEN SAAKALDTE can announce today that a deal has been inked with Pulverised Records for the release of the band’s third album. Work has already commenced on writing and preparation of new material, with the album scheduled for a 2010 release

The cover artwork for "Universal", the new album from Norway's BORKNAGAR, can be viewed below. Due on February 22, 2010 through Indie Recordings, the effort will be made available in four different formats: regular jewelcase CD, limited digipack (including bonus disc), CD box with extras and gatefold LP with double vinyl.

Commented the band: "We are really proud to finally reveal the cover for 'Universal'. It has been a long process to circle in and establish the perfect visual approach for this album. A cover that is able to visually represent the album. We firmly believe that we have achieved that with the new cover and the general designs (including CD, CDL, LP and CD box) represent nothing less."

"Universal" was recorded and mixed at Toproom Studio in Lunner, Norway, with the bandmembers themselves handling the production duties.

Commented BORKNAGAR mainman Øystein G. Brun: "We are extremely satisfied with the result! The album turned out even better than we dared to hope for when starting this journey. There is an attitude, energy and nerve to this record that will appeal to the most primal side of man, yet there is complexity and atmosphere that will challenge the most sophisticated parts of mind. Regarding the album title, Brun said, "'Universal' is the title that shines through and mirrors the essence of the album. 'Universal' is a title that is broad enough and huge enough to project the giant character of this album, both musically and lyrically."

According to founder and front man NIKLAS KVARFORTH (SKITLIV), with “Född Förlorare” SHINING will “take a deep dive into the darkest of all musical genres you could imagine”. Making guest appearances on the album are ERIK DANIELSSON (WATAIN), PETER BJÄRGÖ (ARCANA) and NORDMAN.

SHINING is due to tour Europe with SATYRICON in December, and confirmed that they will be appearing at the Metalfest Open Air Festivals in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in May 2010. The band is currently waiting for the work permit and visa approvals that will enable them to join the US tour with BEHEMOTH in January, and will announce dates as soon as approvals have been confirmed.

Finnish folk metallers FINNTROLL will release their new album, "Nifelvind" (the previously announced title "Mot Skuggornas Värld" has apaprently been scrapped), via Century Media Records on the following dates:

During June - July of MMIX the second VALKYRJA album was manifested in Necromorbus Studio, namely "Contamination". This artillery of disaster and repulsive madness shows the most vicious work to date. Norway's THE KONSORTIUM will enter SOS studios in Stavanger next week with producers Arne Hovda and Ashley Stubbert to begin recording the band's full-length debut, tentatively due in early 2010 via Agonia Records. The group states, "We'll start with drums and bass, and in January it's time to start working on guitars and vocals."

Swedish death metal veterans UNLEASHED have entered guitarist Fredrik Folkare's Chrome studio to begin recording their tenth full-length album for an early 2010 release via Nuclear Blast Records. According to the band, the musical direction of the forthcoming CD will be "the logical continuation from 'Midvinterblot' [2006] and 'Hammer Battalion' [2008]

OV HELL, the new black metal project featuring DIMMU BORGIR vocalist Shagrath and ex-GORGOROTH bassist King, has completed work on its debut album, "The Underworld Regime", for a February 2010 release via Indie Recordings. The CD was recorded at Earshot Studio and features Shagrath on vocals, King on bass, Frost (SATYRICON) on drums, Ice Dale (ENSLAVED) on guitar and Teloch (NIDINGR, GOD SEED) on guitar. The album was produced by Herbrand Larsen and mastered at the Livingroom studios by Espen Berg and Shagrath in November 2009. King composed all of the music for "The Underworld Regime", while Shagrath wrote all lyrics, with contributions from Silenoz and Sarah Owens.
