Alcest "BBC Live Session" now available for pre-order

In Spring 2012, Alcest were honoured to play a live session at the venerable BBC, Britain’s biggest radio station and promoter of the development of Rock music for decades. Recorded on February 27th, 2012 by the producer who already captured the BBC Sessions of Nirvana, Dead Can Dance, Slowdive and many other icons of alternative music, these live songs show the magic of a band that is also about to take their own place on the pantheon of Rock. Side A contains the three songs of the session, while side B is embellished with an etching.

Viking folk music constellation WARDRUNA — which features multi-instrumentalist Einar "Kvitrafn" Selvik, Kristian "Gaahl" Espedal (ex-GORGOROTH, GOD SEED), and vocalist Lindy Fay Hella — will release its second album, "Yggdrasil", on March 15 in Norway, on March 25 in the rest of Europe and on April 2 in North America via Indie Recordings.

"Yggdrasil" is the follow-up to 2009's "Gap Var Ginnunga" and is the second album in the group's planned "Runaljod" trilogy based on the interpretation of the runes of the elder futhark.

About the new album, Kvitrafn commented, "It has taken me quite a while to find the necessary calmness and time needed in order to create the way I do. Last year in November, I began recording 'Yggdrasil', the second part of the 'Runaljod' trilogy. The creative process has been time-consuming and demanding, but I am very happy...

"Like our previous album, it is partly recorded outdoors and in places or situations relevant to the given song. Although the instruments are more or less the same as on 'Gap Var Ginnunga', the nature of the set of runes featured on 'Yggdrasil' have naturally made it a very different album. It is also worth noting that this time I've been working more closely with Lindy and Gaahl during the creative process. We are all very satisfied with the result so far, and we are looking forward to presenting this new piece of old-rooted culture!"

Today Alcest enter Sundlaugin Studio in Iceland to start recording the successor of "Les Voyages De L'Âme" with producer Birgir Jón Birgisson. Last year, Neige had this to say about the new Alcest material:

"You can expect something different from Alcest's previous releases. I don't think there are any metal music elements anymore, though a lot of very intense parts and dynamics are still there. Things are just done in another way, and the core remains the same. That album will come back to the nostalgic side of Alcest, it's very dreamy, aquatic and a bit less progressive than the last two albums. Melodies are taking their time to grow, if you see what I mean. I feel very excited about these songs and this new approach feels very refreshing to me."

Guest appearances of Neil Halstead (Slowdive, Mojave 3) and Billie Lindhal (Promise And The Monster) have been confirmed so far.

The yet untitled album is tentatively scheduled for a release in late 2013 or early 2014 on Prophecy Productions.

CHAOSTAR, the band led by SEPTICFLESH guitarist Christos Antoniou, will release its fourth album, "Anomima", on May 10 in Europe and May 14 in North America via Season Of Mist. The limited-edition version of the CD will come with a bonus DVD entitled "Anomimata". A trailer for the DVD can be seen below.

"Anomima" will feature guest appearances by David Vincent (MORBID ANGEL) and Fernando Ribeiro (MOONSPELL).

Commented Christos: "David narrates the prologue of the most vicious song on the album, shading his dark and imposing shadow over the band's music. With regards to Ribeiro's involvement with the CD, Antoniou said, "His deep gothic voice will give a completely powerful atmosphere to a duet."
