American technical death metal innovators ORIGIN will release their new album, "Entity", on June 7 in North America and June 10 in Europe via Nuclear Blast Records.

One of the most intense and technical forces of the contemporary death metal world, ORIGIN has returned to stake its claim as the leader of metal's new wave of extremity with its fifth studio effort. As expected, the death grind trio of Mike Flores (bass, vocals), Paul Ryan (guitar, vocals) and John Longstreth (drums) continues to churn out frantic, hell-paced grids of metal torment, but now further complements the arrangements with a newfound propensity for churning grooves and the hook-laden approach that first reared its ugly, but accessible head on the band's 2007 offering, "Antithesis". The band once again returned to Chapman Recording Studios in Lenexa, Kansas to work with longtime engineer and friend Robert Rebeck.

As stated multiple times in the past, ORIGIN proves once again that they stand head and shoulders above their peers.

Commented drummer John Longstrength: "As you can see, we're getting closer and closer to having a new album available for you.

"This has been a project that has been a long time in the making with all the unexpected twists and turns that come with creating an album and we are almost there.

"So, this is the new album cover! Designed by the band and executed flawlessly by artist extraordinaire, Colin Marks.

"As you can see, this time there's no aliens, no scary faces, no silly comic book imagery, no bullshit. It's back to basics for the people that don't fall for, or appreciate, bullshit trends that currently compromise the validity of this art.

"Let this album cover with its grey, dead, coldness reflect our disdain for the misconception that ORIGIN is represented by a giant, planet eating, scary face that's aimlessly roaming the cosmos like an idiot.

"Like the cover, the music on this album is stone, it's cold, it's serious, it's desolate, it's very angry, it's the band unified and working overtime to create what we feel will be the finest 45 minutes ORIGIN has created yet. This album is its own bitter entity."

Added artist Colin Marks: "It's been a real pleasure collaborating with the ORIGIN guys on the artwork for 'Entity'.

"From the beginning John had a very specific vision of how this record should look and I tried to interpret that as accurately as possible.

Niklas Kvarforth, founder and frontman of Swedish extreme metallers SHINING, has issued the following statement regarding the recent announcement by KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy La Rocque that he will be working with the band on the recording of its eighth album at his Sonic Train Studios in Varberg, Sweden.

"The pre-production stage of the new album should more or less be finished in August, and we have booked the studios for the whole of January and February 2012 to complete work on it. It's an album I'm particularly looking forward to recording because it will give me the chance to work with Andy La Rocque. I am a huge KING DIAMOND fan, and working with Andy was an opportunity I wasn't going to pass up. He will be attending some of our rehearsals and it will be interesting to see what his input will be to the almost finished album and to SHINING's particular sound. Whilst we're there, we also plan to record some covers for future release. As to the direction 'VIII' will take, well, for the time being let's just say that it will be blacker and more sinister than our previous releases."

Extreme metal supergroup LOCK UP will release its new album, "Necropolis Transparent", on July 1 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was recorded in November-December 2010 at HVR Studios in Ipswich, United Kingdom and was mixed in January.

According to a press release, "the songwriting and production on ['Necropolis Transparent'] surpasses everything the band has done so far. The speed, riffing and intensity make this record more than just a grindcore album and see LOCK UP come into their own true identity."

Mithras would like to announce the return of long time frontman/bassist Rayner Coss, who left back in 2008.

Rayner “Firstly, it's good to be back! When I departed in 2008, Leon and I had been playing in bands together non-stop for over 12 years, and for various reasons I was finding it really difficult dedicating the necessary amount of time and attention to Mithras. But, during the near three years I've been away, my situation has changed to the point where I'm able to fully concentrate on the band again. We've gone straight to work on the new record, which Leon already had a lot of ideas down for and so far it's been the easiest writing process we've ever had, which is really promising”

Leon “It's great to be working with a re-energised Rayner on new material again, and the tracks we're developing for the next album are sounding incredible. Even though I needed a rest and had put Mithras practically on hiatus for the last six months, I already had a fair amount of material demoed up which I'd been working on solo. It's only taken a month to get Rayner up to speed with where I'm at with everything and it's also extra great because I don't need to record the vocals myself now, haha! So for the next record, we'll be sticking to the formula which worked great on all our others, Rayner Coss - Oratory/Bass and Leon Macey – Guitars/Drums”

The yet to be titled follow-up to the critically acclaimed 'Behind The Shadows Lie Madness' (released via Candelight Records in 2007) is due sometime in 2012...

As you probably heard, Norwegian Black Metal act TSJUDER recently reunited after a five-year hiatus. The infernal trio's forthcoming album is entitled "Legion Helvete" and has been scheduled for an October 14th release (October 18th in the US).

In the meantime, you can catch the band live this weekend at France's Hellfest, as well as at Germany's Wacken Open Air on August 7th and at Brutal Assault in Czech Republic on August 11th.

The autumn will also bring you British doomsters ESOTERIC's new offering. The British doomsters are currently hard at work on their sixth full-length, which should hit the stores in November. Vocalist Greg Chandlers presents the yet-untitled album as a "varied and diverse mix of emotions and soundscapes"...

Polish death metal veterans VADER will release their new album, "Welcome To The Morbid Reich", on August 12 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was recorded at Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland and features the cover artwork of Zbigniew Bielak (DESTRÖYER 666, WATAIN). The band laid down a total of 12 songs for the CD, which was mixed and mastered in May.

DECAPITATED have released the album artwork to their fifth studio album and Nuclear Blast debut, Carnival Is Forever. The album will be released in North America on July 12th.

Guitarist & founding member Wacław "Vogg" Kiełtyka shares a few words about the cover art’s intent and photography by Lukasz Jaszak:

"Very intriguing and quite strange for a metal album but surely staying in memory. A vital thing is that it's a photo. We did not want any computer graphics this time or anything artificial or plastic. The same regards the production of the album. We had actually been thinking about getting a painting for the cover but unfortunately we couldn't do it. Maybe next time.”

About the album title, Vogg has previously stated:

"Carnival: war, rape, lies, pathology, evil displayed through certain events and situations of the latest years in the world. Is Forever - I guess it doesn't need explaining. Both the text and the title are bitterly ironic."

Carnival Is Forever is the follow-up to 2006’s Organic Hallucinosis and was produced by Wacek Kiełtyka and sound engineered by Malta Arkadiusz Malczewski. Drums & mixing duties were handled by Daniel Bergstrand (BEHEMOTH, MESHUGGAH, DIMMU BORGIR, KEEP OF KALESSIN, DEFLESHED). The author of the album’s lyrics is Jarek Szubrycht, music journalist, author of No Mercy, the world’s first biography of thrash metal legends SLAYER.

The band will be self-releasing the new album in their native Poland.

ICS Vortex – Signs worldwide deal with Century Media Records! "Storm Seeker" debut album out in late August!

Norway's ICS Vortex have signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records for the launch of the versatile "Storm Seeker" debut album, to be released on August 22nd, 2011 in Europe and August 23rd, 2011 in North America.


ICS Vortex, former Dimmu Borgir and current Borknagar member, comments on the signing as follows: "Boarding with Century Media, ICS Vortex is ready to weather whatever storm lies ahead. The album, aged like a pirate's favorite drink, is now ready to be shot with fellow mates."

ICS Vortex's debut album is a havoc of varied metal and takes the musical elements from his +10 years experience with Dimmu Borgir as well as the legacy of the classic bands with whom he is still active (Borknagar, Arcturus and Lamented Souls), topping things off with his signature clean vocals in order to make "Storm Seeker" become a perfectly balanced axe, whether a song is cutting fast, or dicing slow.

"Storm Seeker" features appearances by Borknagar teammate Asgeir Mickelson on drums and also Terje "Cyrus" Andersen (Susperia, ex Dimmu Borgir) contributing some lead guitars. The extremely versatile debut album was recorded at Norwegian Toproom Studio (Mayhem, Tristania, Borknagar, etc.) with engineer Børge Finstad and mastered in Sweden by Peter in de Betou at Tailor Maid Studio (Arch Enemy, Dark Tanquillity, Dimmu Borgir, etc.).

After recordings, the ICS Vortex project had evolved a lot and actually turned into an ambitioned band, eager to perform live and with a permanent line-up as follows:

Polish kings of Satanic metal slaughter WITCHMASTER have finished recording four new tracks, to be released later in the year under the working title of "Smierc" (Polish for "death"). The band states, "Expect nothing but raw, old-school metal in the traditional WITCHMASTER style."

WITCHMASTER will embark on a tour with BULLDOZER, AZARATH and DEUS MORTEM in September.

OLD SILVER KEY is the new band born from the hyperactive mind of DRUDKH mainman Roman Sayenko and consisting of four DRUDKH members plus French artist Neige (ALCEST, AMESOEURS) on vocals. OSK's debut album is entitled "Tales of Wanderings" and has been scheduled for a September 16th release (September 27th in North America) on Season of Mist's Underground Activists division. The aim of this new project is to create nostalgic, romantic and light atmosphere of solitude, beholding, childhood and warmth.

Swedish black metallers DARK FUNERAL have announced the addition of vocalist Nachtgarm (NEGATOR) to the group's ranks.

Guitarist Lord Ahriman admits that it surely was not an easy task to find a worthy replacement for Emperor Magus Caligula, who has been doing an amazing job for DARK FUNERAL during the past 15 years. The Lord says that he has not only been "the vocalist" for the band, but the also a very good friend of his and he always will be.

Anyway, 10 months of intense search worldwide have finally given result and he is VERY proud to announce and welcome Nachtgarm to the horde.

Commented Lord Ahriman: "I think I can speak for everyone in the band and say that besides completely knocking us down with the strength of his vocals and wide register, what truly blew us away was his presence, energy and the amazing spirit he showed during the final audition. He just came into the rehearsal room, found and took his rightful spot. And then just set the whole place on hellfire! It's really hard to explain 'that' certain feeling one is looking for, but once you get it, you just know that you've found the right man for the job. And that is something we all got 'deluxe.' No doubt about that!

"Mankind has no idea what is coming upon them. And I can't wait to bring this maniac on tour for the world to experience DARK FUNERAL in the most intense and hellish way ever!

"During the 10 month we have been looking for a new vocalist and drummer, we have received over 1000 applications. The interest to join DARK FUNERAL has been way over expectation and quite overwhelming to say the least. And we would like to take this opportunity to thank EVERYONE who applied for the jobs. One thing is for sure: There are a lot of unknown talents out there. And once they've found the right band to deliver their goods, I'm sure we all will hear from many of these guys in the future. Added guitarist Chaq Mol: "When Emperor Magus Caligula quit the band, my first thought was, 'How the fuck will we be able to find a worthy replacement now?' In my eyes he was the best vocalist in the black metal scene. Anyhow, after we had listened through a couple of hundreds applicants, there were two guys that really stood out and sounded very promising indeed. The question now was, would they nail it on a live audition too, and would their personalities be of that kind we were looking for?! Well, after 10 month search we finally found the right man for the job! And all my previous doubts and concerns are now a memory forgotten. Nachtgarm, welcome to the horde!"

States Nachtgarm: "To me, DARK FUNERAL is the epitome of black metal. To be a member of this institution now, is not only a big honor for me, but is also complementing my work as a lead singer as well as my action at the front of the stage throughout the years. Consequently, I am very glad that DARK FUNERAL put their unholy faith in me and my abilities. As the successor of Emperor Magus Caligula, I am quite aware of the high expectations being directed to my person.
