On 7th of june the final recording session at Tidalwave Studio will start. Some additional parts for acoustic guitar and keyboard will be done, as well as a couple of details for e-guitar, and bass.
followed the recordings of the clean vocals, choirs and screams. Having a certain break after this, the mixing will follow a couple of weeks later. The mastering, as usual, will be done at 2496Mastering Studio subsequently.

In my humble opinion the results so far are nothing but stunning. Boltthorn contributed fantastic drums, which will come up with a slightly rougher sound, just as the e-guitars. Songs like „Wulfarweijd“,„Vaer Stjernar Vaerdan“or „Nattens Stilta“do sound remarkably impressive and – to me – even charmingat this early point already. This might become a special recording, to me personally it will, without any doubts.

Norwegian dark metallers AETERNUS will enter Bergen's Conclave And Earshot Studios in June with producer Bjornar E. Nilsen (VULTURE INDUSTRIES, BLACK HOLE GENERATOR) to begin recording their seventh full-length album, "And The Seventh His Soul Detesteth", for a late 2012 release via Dark Essence Records.

After 17 years in the band, original member and bassist Kimmy Sjölund have decided to leave Thyrfing. As a change of this Jocke has decided to handle the bass duties from now on and we welcome Dennis Ekdahl as our new permanent drummer.

The band is also in the final negotiations with a new record label to release the seventh album, planned for early 2013.

Recorded back in 2007, but only to be released early 2012, this release is an excellent short audible compendium showing how Secrets of the Moon styled atmospherics combine greatly with further stubborn feeling that The Ascendant shows. Viral and superbly composed tracks, which show a whole other sub-school of excellent Swedish Orthodox black metal. It’s a shame this might be the one and only release ever from The Ascendant.

Niklas Kvarforth's SHINING has debuted a track from the recently announced EP "Lots Of Girls Gonna Get Hurt", which contains cover songs from KATATONIA, KENT, IMPERIET and POETS OF THE FALL. The first song from the four-track effort to be released is a version of KATATONIA's "For My Demons".

While KATATONIA is an internationally recognized name, KENT and Thåström's IMPERIET are relatively unknown outside of Sweden, where they are two of the country's biggest names, and POETS OF THE FALL is a Finnish band with a substantial following in their own country. Cover art is by Pauline Greefhorst.

Commenting on the decision to release an EP of covers, as well as on the choice of material, SHINING's frontman and founder Niklas Kvarforth had this to say: "In no way should this EP be seen as a new direction for SHINING, and it is absolutely no indication of what you can expect from our upcoming eighth album. Like most musicians neither myself, nor the rest of the band, restrict ourselves to listening to only one genre of music. We all have eclectic tastes, and finding ourselves with some spare time in the studio, we recorded a total of six covers, and decided to release four of them. This EP simply represents some of the artists and music that we like. We know that those fans of SHINING who limit themselves to a narrow musical spectrum will hate the album, but that really is of no concern to us."

Shining sortira un Ep de reprises, intitulé "Lots Of Girls Gonna Get Hurt", le 16 mai prochain via Spinefarm Records. Cet Ep contiendra des reprises de Katatonia, Kent, Imperiet, Poets Of The Fall. Kvarforth signale que cet Ep n'est en aucun cas une nouvelle orientation musicale pour Shining et n'est donc pas un avant goût concernant le nouvel album à paraître cette année.

Katatonia have wrapped up the recording of their as-yet-untitled full-length follow-up to 2009's 'Night Is The New Day', and according to guitarist Anders 'Blakkheim' Nyström it's their most diverse offering yet.

"I can feel that amongst the 13 songs there never has been this diversity and variety before," says Anders. "Some songs are really going off into territories, further than we have done before, but the good thing is that I think the whole production, the sound, and our performances, are gluing those songs together, which still sounds like it's one band performing."

The Swedish miserablists have also announced that Silje Wergeland, vocalist for The Gathering, will appear as a guest vocalist on one of the songs on the album. "People are not gonna be disappointed, that's for sure!" says Anders on the collaboration. "I was blown away by the result."

The new album is set for release on September 3 via Peaceville.

French industrial black metallers BLACKLODGE have named their upcoming fourth album "MachinatioN".

Band leader Saint Vincent issued the following statement: "In the year 2012 of Apocalyptic fears, the band brings a new revelation and a new light over the TridenT of SataN that is threatening humanity through one key world: MachinatioN!"

WINTERSUN mainman Jari Mäenpää (formerly of ENSIFERUM) singer has issued the following update on the band's long-awaited second album, titled "Time".

"'Time' is going to be two albums, titled 'Time I' and 'Time II'. We made this decision simply because of few reasons:

* All the 80 minutes of material won't fit on a regular CD and we didn't want to cut anything out.
* We want you to be able to hear new material sooner and not wait any longer and we want to go on tour sooner.
* The music is very full and complex, so listening this kind of 'hard listening (not easy listening)' material straight for 80 minutes is a bit too much (even for me).
* Both albums will be approximately. nice 40 min epic packages of fireworks.
* We like the idea of releasing two albums within one year, so the band will stay more visible longer, which is important in these 'modern times.' No more years of silence for us!

"'Time I' mix is set to be finished by July, mastered in the beginning of July and released in early fall of 2012. 'Time II' will be released in 2013. Conception of album artworks, videos, live shows incl. rehearsals will keep us busy during the summer and I'll also continue mixing 'Time II' meanwhile. We'll be hopefully posting some videos and teasers during summer. Also some new live show announcements soon, so stay tuned for those!
