English Heathen Black Metal band Wodensthrone have just finished recording their second album, tentatively entitled ‘Curse’, at The Priory Recording Studios in Sutton Coldfield, England, with Greg Chandler (founding member/guitarist/vocalist from UK doom horde Esoteric) at the helm engineering, producing, and mixing this new full length. The much-anticipated follow up to debut album Loss features eight tracks which demonstrate what the band are calling their darkest, most intense, yet diverse offering thus far. Scheduled for an early 2012 release, the album will be Wodensthrone’s first worldwide release on Candlelight Records since their signing with the infamous label in 2010. This record will also mark a new beginning for the band vocally, as founding member Brunwulf recently departed the clan amicably, which made way for guitarists Wildeþrýð and Rædwalh to take over all vocal duties.

Speaking on behalf of the band, guitarist and vocalist Rædwalh states, ‘The departure of Brunwulf presented us with an opportunity to either find a suitable replacement, or for Wildeþrýð and I to take on the responsibility ourselves. After much thought we decided to keep the band as a five piece, as it would be hard to replace our brother Brunwulf, whose vocals were very distinctive and integral to our sound, but also because we felt no need to replace him with any new blood since the chemistry in the band feels just right at the moment. This sophomore recording will also feature Arfæst on synths, who has been a part of our brotherhood and live rituals since 2009. He has been an integral part of the writing process for this new record, musically and lyrically. So this marks a new chapter for the clan in more ways than one. We displayed passion and total dedication to the writing and recording of this opus and we look forward to unleashing the Curse early next year. Wæs þu hæl!'

THE WRETCHED END starts recording new album.

THE WRETCHED END, formed in 2008 as creative collaboration between Samoth (Emperor/ Zyklon) and Cosmo (Mindgrinder), are currently heading into Strand Studio, Oslo, to record the drumtracks for the follow up to last years debut album “Ominous”. Once again it is Swedish skinbasher Nils Fjellström (aka Dominator from Dark Funeral, Aeon and In Battle) who’s behind the kit.

The new album is tentatively entitled “Inroads” and confirmed song titles include: “Death by Nature”, “Cold Iron Soul”, “Blackthorn Winter”, “Fear Propaganda”, “Hunger”, “Throne Renowned of Old”, “Tyrant of the Mountain”, “Deathtopian Society” and “The Haunting Ground”

The album recording is scheduled to be completed by the end 2011 and is tentatively scheduled for release in the first half of 2012 through Nocturnal Art Productions/ Candlelight Records.

Vargs favourite tracks from his two first albums "Burzum" and "Det Som Engang Var" recorded in 2010 the way he originally intended!!

- "From the Depths of Darkness" is a re-recording of tracks from the first two albums, "Burzum" and "Det Som Engang Var"
- Inspired by the recording of "Belus" and in the middle of the process of writing "Fallen" Varg went into the studio in March 2010 and re-recorded a selected number of tracks from the early days of Burzum.
- The result is a hard hitting and great sounding collection of tracks sounding the way Varg wanted the tracks to sound and to be heard by his dedicated fans and supporters.
- Its an album that will cement the legacy of Burzum and that is dedicated to Pytten for his gratitude and perseverance in relation to Burzum.
- Burzum says of the new album: "From the Depths of Darkness was recorded and decided to be released because I always meant that the original recordings didn't do justice to the music, and I wanted to hear the tracks as they were intended by me back in 1991 and 1992, when these tracks were made, and to share this with those interested."

- Recorded at Grieghallen Studios March 2010.

Autumn 2011:

We are currently preparing our new releases and finnishing the new Nocternity Album.

I start this post with some special thanks to Spinefarm Records for “letting them go for a short walk” with another label, disregarding the running exclusive deal and the relevant financial and physical support (work!) they are putting into the band. Thanks Nelli & whole Spinefarm / Universal Music Finland HQ’s.

And thanks Niklas for wanting this to happen so badly.

It is nice when “a band” you worked with in the past wants to do something together again. It is also -although less important- a strong signal to the public, especially when “that band” is now on the peak of their career (so far!) and not in decline, having sold the fortune of 10.000 copies (in 2011!!) of a new single in homeland Sweden (certified Gold) and soon going to tour with some important acts as well as starting to record a new album. So busy but so genuine still.

You gotta know Niklas close & well to understand all of this, to benefit of his pure attitude and to see the soul behind the controversial performer.

SHINING ‘t.b.a.’ (untitled yet!) official Live Album was recorded in Italy, September the 3rd.

Some bits of bad luck and big doses of rough organisation by the live event staff made their best to work against this big dream of ours: the concert was started and interrupted, went through impossible/ironical/ridicolous technical problems, then restarted one hour later, and although being initially lead by the negativity the event was eventually sinking into, at the end of the (night) we have a master tape in our hands! Ah ah, master tape, sounds like “official bootleg”, like in the old days.

Avantgarde Music made some history starting with an illustrious live album, recorded in Leipzig, Eastern Germany, approximately by the same season 20 years before.

We love to think this story is old, but it still goes on, thanks to a new live album, recorded in Italy, Southern Europe, approximately by the same season 20 years later.

Release date, infos and details to be disclosed shortly.

Berlin’s most advanced band ESSENZ are now fully focused in the making of their third Opus which will see the light with the title “Mundus Numen”.

Through G.St., the band hereby issues a brief explanation (in italic) of this latin title and the album concept:

“mundus” for the latin “world” and “numen” for the godlike will; that means the concept for the whole release is an expression of the world-controlling deepest will seen from a superior level…

This record will consist of :

Chapter I: cavity and shape lysis
Chapter II: cavity and shape control

..that is, with regards to the content we deal with “the sea of gloss and light” [=the gnostic "Pleroma" or kabbalian "Hechalot"] and love under will on the superior/metaphysical level and likewise psychotic, manic, powerful and controlling condition considering the physical level…
