Dutch occult rock act THE DEVIL'S BLOOD, which last month announced its decision to disband, has issued the following update on its upcoming plans:

"It has been a while since the announcement of our disbanding was made and we feel now is the right time to convey our plans for the legacy that THE DEVIL'S BLOOD will leave.

"Our music and artwork will remain available through both our own website and that of Ván Records as well as any other medium that will prove suitable.

"At the time of the group's disbanding, there were several projects ongoing, each in different evolutionary stages. These were the following:

"1. 'III: Tabula Rasa Or Death And The Seven Pillars' A new, full-length album with seven new songs, for which only demos were made. Originally intended for a winter 2013 release. Artwork by Manuel Tinnemans.

"2. '66:2' An acoustic EP with one new piece of music and two covers. Studio recordings unfinished. Originally intended for a release at Roadburn 2013. Artwork [to be announced].

"3. A live DVD. Not yet edited or mixed. Originally intended for a release somewhere 2013/2014.

"4. Several live recordings. Not yet edited or mixed. Originally intended for use as live records, B sides and compilation material.

"It is our desire to make all of this material available as it is right now. These recordings will be mixed and mastered by Pieter G. Kloos at the Void Studios in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Nothing will be altered, re-recorded or added to the music.

"We are currently working towards realizing this goal and a release date for items 1 and 2 looks to be 30th of April. This is still tentative. For the other items, no immediate plans have been made but they will be released when the time is deemed right.

"Upon the release of the album and EP, SL [guitarist Selim Lemouchi] will be giving a limited amount of interviews in which he will be answering questions regarding the end of the band, the current state and future of the legacy of THE DEVIL'S BLOOD etcetera. This will be the last time SL will be available for comment on the subject of THE DEVIL'S BLOOD. After this point, he will only focus on his future spiritual and artistic path."

THE DEVIL'S BLOOD's latest full-length album, "The Thousandfold Epicentre", was made available in North America on January 17, 2012. The 11-song CD was produced with the help of Pieter Kloos at Void Studios in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

EMI are proud to announce the highly anticipated release of the Double Disc DVD MAIDEN ENGLAND ‘88 on 25 March. Now available for the very first time on DVD, this live show was filmed across two sold-out nights at Birmingham N.E.C Arena, UK in November 1988 during the band’s “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son World Tour”. Disc one contains the concert which has been specially upgraded and extended from the existing 1989 longform VHS release and now includes three previously unreleased encores: Running Free, Run To The Hills and Sanctuary thereby completing the full concert with a total running time of 110 minutes . Maiden’s own Film Producer and Director Andy Matthews went back to the 1988 edit and painstakingly remastered each shot digitally; colour correcting and grading to give the image the best possible look from that time. As well as the VHS stereo sound track by Martin Birch, the band’s producer between 1981 and 1993, the DVD also includes a brand new 5.1 audio surround mix by Maiden’s current producer Kevin Shirley. The concert was meticulously directed and edited by bass player and founder member Steve Harris, so as to capture the performance from a fans-eye view of the stage, focusing fully on the music, the elaborate stage production and the lighting. Add into the mix an electrifying set list and of course Eddie, and Maiden England now offers a snapshot of a bygone era in which the band, as they continue to do today, devote their all in delivering the ultimate live experience for their fans.

Disc two is an extensive bonus disc featuring an exclusive documentary charting Part 3 in the History of Iron Maiden. This 40-minute film comprises recent interviews with the five band members and manager, Rod Smallwood. Picking up the story in the aftermath of the ‘84/85 World Slavery tour, this interesting and insightful documentary sees the band speak candidly about their memories of an exciting and occasionally turbulent period from which would emerge the albums Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son. As the Eighties began to draw to a close, so did another chapter in Maiden’s compelling history.

Other special extras on the bonus disc include Twelve Wasted Years. First released as a longform VHS in 1987 and available for the first time on DVD, this documentary runs for 90 minutes and includes archive interviews and dynamic live footage from the band’s beginnings in the now legendary Ruskin Arms pub, via London’s Marquee club and three World Tours. Five promo videos for the singles from the aforementioned albums are also featured and have been carefully restored and improved upon from the original films using the very latest software with the audio remastered in digital stereo.

Manager Rod Smallwood comments “We've been busy upgrading this concert footage for a long time, with our in-house Film Producer and Director Andy Matthews working tirelessly to weave his magic yet again!. The 1989 VHS video has been largely unavailable for many years and we know how eagerly our fans have been awaiting the new version so we wanted to give it the best possible treatment. The current Maiden England World Tour which continues later this year revisits much of the set list and production from the initial 1989 VHS release so it will be interesting to compare just how much has changed in terms of our 2013 live show production, especially with all the advances in modern technology and the improvements we've been able to make to the set”.

The Maiden England ‘88 concert soundtrack will also be made available on 2CD album, Limited Edition double vinyl picture disc and Digital Download formats. The audio had previously only ever been available before on CD as part of EMI’s 1994 Sound And Vision Series packaged alongside the VHS, but with two tracks fewer than the video contained. Can I Play With Madness and Hallowed Be Thy Name were not featured as there was no space on the 1CD disc. Now with the three encores also included the double disc offers a total of 5 tracks previously unavailable on CD making this the first full and complete audio recording release of this historic tour.

We are deeply saddened to report that Clive Burr passed away last night. He had suffered poor health for many years after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and died peacefully in his sleep at home.

Steve Harris said “This is terribly sad news. Clive was a very old friend of all of us. He was a wonderful person and an amazing drummer who made a valuable contribution to Maiden in the early days when we were starting out. This is a sad day for everyone in the band and those around him and our thoughts and condolences are with his partner Mimi and family at this time."

Bruce Dickinson adds “I first met Clive when he was leaving Samson and joining Iron Maiden. He was a great guy and a man who really lived his life to the full. Even during the darkest days of his M.S., Clive never lost his sense of humour or irreverence. This is a terribly sad day and all our thoughts are with Mimi and the family”

As Maiden fans all know, Clive joined Maiden in 1979 and performed on the first three albums Iron Maiden (1980), Killers (1981) and The Number Of The Beast (1982). Prior to that he was a member of Samson, the band Bruce fronted before he too joined Maiden.

Après avoir écouté la moitié des titres de l'album, disponibles en ligne, on peut dire que le groupe nous fait une magnifique sortie de piste. Un album ultra mou (Pop édulcorée) en perspective qui ne retranscrit ni le côté sombre, ni l'ambiance du premier album.

Le single "End of the Beginning" de Black Sabbath sera dévoilé lors du dernier épisode de la saison 13 de la série Les Experts (aka CSI) qui sera diffusé le 15 mai aux States.

THE DEVIL'S BLOOD announced at the beginning of 2013 that they have "returned to nothingness." At the same time, they announced that plans had already been put into motion to release new material.

The new seven-song album, "III: Tabula Rasa Or Death And The Seven Pillars", will serve as the band's final full-length release. It will be available for purchase on iTunes April 30, via all other digital outlets (Google Play, Amazon MP3, etc.) on May 28, and on CD and vinyl June 11.

A new track, "White Storm Of Teeth", can be streamed below. The cover art was created by Manuel Tinnemans.

SL comments on the release: "Prior to our disbanding on the 22nd of January 2013, we had been active with the pre-production of what was to be our third album. Seven songs, the complete outline of the album, had been, in humble form, recorded in my home recording studio and these demos were supposed to be the template for our studio recordings. Obviously, we would never make it that far and the initial shock of that fact saddened us greatly. After but a few days we listened to this material again and decided that even though the audio quality might not be what people have come to expect from a THE DEVIL'S BLOOD release, the song material was and is the best we have ever done. We came to the conclusion that these songs deserve to become a part of The Canon and that we would release them as is.

"I spent a few days gathering all the demo material together, made a very simple mix and gave the material to our friend and mentor Pieter G. Kloos to master in his studio. Here we present you with the titles of the material and the artwork which was done by Manuel Tinnemans.

"The song we have chosen to release now is 'White Storm Of Teeth'. More so than the other material, this song speaks to the completion and transubstantiation that always follows an Occult path. Not the end of a journey but the start of a completely new one. Built around thirteen stanzas in the first part and thirteen stanzas in the second part the process of inner enlightenment through confusion and entropy and the initiation through the Death of the lower self is illustrated. This theme is rampant throughout the record and its lyrics but here it culminates and completely devours itself. After this work no words are needed and, on the album, none are offered.

"THE DEVIL'S BLOOD has always been an entity that defied any fealty or thankfulness towards any earthly influence. But we as people need not hold to this paradigm any longer. We therefore wish to express our sincere thankfulness to all those who have supported this weird quest and have made the earthly woes to not work against us. You most definitely know who you are.

"The record will be released by Ván Records in Europe and the rest of the world and by Metal Blade in North America. It will be available as digital download, CD and LP starting the 30th of April in Europe and a date soon to be announced in the USA/Canada."

Lord of the Sings: Sir Christopher Lee, 91, to release heavy metal album



He has played Dracula, Frankenstein's monster and the evil wizard Saruman, but the actor Sir Christopher Lee is only now fully exploring his dark side, when releases his first heavy metal album next week.

The actor, who has starred in the Lord of the Rings, Hobbit and Star Wars franchises, is releasing his fourth album Charlemagne: The Omens of Death on 27 May in time for his 91st birthday.

The record, which features track names such as “Massacre of the Saxons”, “The Devil’s Advocate” and “The Ultimate Sacrifice”, is likely to appeal to fans of Sir Lee’s fantasy films. Lee appears on the cover brandishing a sword and surrounded by fire.

His previous album Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross featured symphonic metal music, but this is his first album to exclusively feature heavy metal.

“I’m not screaming or anything like that, but it is definitely heavy metal,” Sir Lee said.

“The first Charlemagne album was metal, of course, but what I sang was more symphonic. Now on the second one, The Omens Of Death, it is one hundred per cent heavy metal.”

Sir Lee said he had played quite a few parts in his career which have appeared in heavy metal songs, such as “Wicker Man” by Iron Maiden and “The Man with the Golden Gun” by Alice Cooper.

The album was arranged by Richie Faulkner, the lead guitarist for heavy metal band Judas Priest.

“Some of the tracks didn’t have any music at all and were just Sir Christopher singing his melodies,” he said. “Most of the songs were already there, but they needed riffs, drum parts and musical parts that reflected what the guys wanted.”

Sir Lee joins a number of high profile actors, such as Hugh Laurie and Steve Martin, who have released albums alongside their TV and film work.

Artists including Zooey Deschanel, Jennifer Lopez and Will Smith have established careers as both actors and musicians, though they are yet to release any heavy metal…yet.

"Malgré d'indubitables progrès, les docteurs ont estimé qu'il était encore trop tôt pour reprendre complètement une tournée et le groupe et Lemmy se sont, non sans mal, résolus à l'annuler", indique-t-il.
   
"Lemmy s'excuse profondément pour tous les inconvénients causés à ses fans et veut que tout le monde sache qu'il est en voie de complet rétablissement et que le pronostic à long terme est très bon", poursuit le communiqué.
   
La tournée européenne devait débuter en février au Royaume-Uni et passer par le Zénith de Paris le 22 février.
