"As everyone is more than aware, 'Shining VII' has been delayed an unacceptably long time. There have been a lot of rumours as to why this should be, so we have decided to set the record straight once and for all.

"Despite the fact that the album was recorded two years ago, it has still not been mixed. Our producer has been concentrating on recording other artists instead of finishing the job on 'Shining VII'. This is despite the fact that Indie Recordings has put up a lot of money to get the album finished and has supported our efforts in every way possible. It is not SHINING's fault and it is not Indie Recordings' fault that the album still has not appeared, and I am sure you will understand when we say that nobody wants this album released more than ourselves and Indie. Rest assured that we will be taking steps to ensure that it appears sooner rather than later.

"No doubt some of you will be wondering whether the tour with WATAIN will still go on, since the album will not be out by then, but we have no plans to cancel and it will go ahead as planned."

Quelques nouvelles de Shining et de son futur album (enregistré il y a deux ans déjà). Kvarforth annonce que l'album a pris énormément de retard car celui-ci n'est pas encore mixé. La faute en revient au producteur qui s'est concentré sur d'autres enregistrements, malgré l'argent investi par le label pour qu'il termine l'opus au plus vite. Actuellement aucune date de sortie n' a été révélée, mais kvarforth assure que des mesures vont être prises pour que l'opus voit le jour le plus vite possible.

Swedish extreme metallers SHINING have parted ways with Norway's Indie Recordings and have inked a deal with Finland's Spinefarm Records.

SHINING founder Niklas Kvarforth, who late last month announced that he was quitting all his other projects, with the exception of Maniac's SKITLIV, so that he could concentrate on SHINING, is keen to stress that the parting from Indie is completely amicable, explaining that, "There is absolutely no bad blood between SHINING and Indie Recordings. We sat down together and talked everything through, and everyone came to the conclusion that the best way for SHINING to grow and develop would be to sign the band to a label with the size and experience of Spinefarm." He adds, "I would like to thank Indie for putting the interests of the band first and allowing this to deal to happen."

The surprise move also means that SHINING's much-delayed seventh full-length album, "VII / Född Förlorare", will now appear on Spinefarm rather than Indie, with a release date having been set for May 25.

Commenting on the upcoming release and the new cooperation with Spinefarm, Kvarforth had this to say: "'VII / Född Förlorare' has been long in coming due to a series of unfortunate delays, none of which had anything to do with Indie, and it is a relief to all of us that it will finally see the light of day. I personally am extremely happy to be working with Spinefarm's Teemu, and am confident that SHINING will now be able to go from strength to strength."

American technical death metal innovators ORIGIN will release their new album, "Entity", on June 7 in North America and June 10 in Europe via Nuclear Blast Records.

One of the most intense and technical forces of the contemporary death metal world, ORIGIN has returned to stake its claim as the leader of metal's new wave of extremity with its fifth studio effort. As expected, the death grind trio of Mike Flores (bass, vocals), Paul Ryan (guitar, vocals) and John Longstreth (drums) continues to churn out frantic, hell-paced grids of metal torment, but now further complements the arrangements with a newfound propensity for churning grooves and the hook-laden approach that first reared its ugly, but accessible head on the band's 2007 offering, "Antithesis". The band once again returned to Chapman Recording Studios in Lenexa, Kansas to work with longtime engineer and friend Robert Rebeck.

As stated multiple times in the past, ORIGIN proves once again that they stand head and shoulders above their peers.

Commented drummer John Longstrength: "As you can see, we're getting closer and closer to having a new album available for you.

"This has been a project that has been a long time in the making with all the unexpected twists and turns that come with creating an album and we are almost there.

"So, this is the new album cover! Designed by the band and executed flawlessly by artist extraordinaire, Colin Marks.

"As you can see, this time there's no aliens, no scary faces, no silly comic book imagery, no bullshit. It's back to basics for the people that don't fall for, or appreciate, bullshit trends that currently compromise the validity of this art.

"Let this album cover with its grey, dead, coldness reflect our disdain for the misconception that ORIGIN is represented by a giant, planet eating, scary face that's aimlessly roaming the cosmos like an idiot.

Added artist Colin Marks: "It's been a real pleasure collaborating with the ORIGIN guys on the artwork for 'Entity'.

Polish tech death elitists DECAPITATED just checked in one last time from the studio where the band just finished the recordings of the follow-up to 2006's „Organic Hallucinations“.

"Hi! The session is over! We are 100% happy with what we have created.

The final effect is mind-blowing and we ourselves are surprised with the outcome of a two-month recording session and a six-month period of polishing the material. Worth mentioning is that some of the riffs were done in the days of the prior DECAPITATED. People have changed but the spirit has remained untouched and despite a few innovations it is still the DECAPITATED you all know.

As we had mentioned before, we have been consistently striving to get the 'true',organic and natural sound. The sum of all ingredients has resulted in a staggering power and a crazy adrenaline shot. Moreover, to our surprise, something else has emerged... Insanity, madness, inexplicable power. This is the factor that most of top 'trite' productions lack. Over the whole music hovers some idea, some concept that infects the listeners like a disease. This is what the music is always all about and the reason why you return to some records years after years - it's the emotions...

We are damn proud, fulfilled, self-confident and looking forward to confronting the new material live.

On pouvait s'y attendre...Kvarforth nous refait le même coup à chaque sortie d'album. Après avoir quitté ses projets parallèles pour se concentrer sur Shining, notre héros nous annonce un changement de label. Shining vient de quitter Indie Recordings et annonce une signature chez Spinefarm Records. SHINING DEBUTS TRACK FROM FORTHCOMING ALBUM; ALBUM DETAILS REVEALED

Following on from the recent news that SHINING had parted company with Indie Recordings and signed with Spinefarm Records, the band has debuted a track from the forthcoming album “VII / Född Förlorare”, which in English means “Born Loser”. The track, “Förtvivlan, Min Arvedel”, can be heard on SHINING’s MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/shininghalmstad



All the music and lyrics for “VII / Född Förlorare”, which is due for release on the 25th May, were written by SHINING’s founder and front man Niklas Kvarforth, and the album was recorded over what the band describes as “three long years” inside the Slaughterhouse studios in Sweden, with Rickard Bengtsson once again producing.



Kvarforth himself defines the finished result as “THE” SHINING album. “It is”, he commented, “the natural successor to our fifth album “V/Halmstad”, rather than to our last release “VI/Klagopsalmer”, which I have always thought of as more of an experiment both in terms of writing and performance”. “VII / Född Förlorare” includes an array of guest appearances, and here follows a track by track description of the album.



First song: “Förtvivlan, Min Arvedel” (Despair, My Heritage) marks the start of what promises to be the darkest album in SHINING’s career to date - and for a band that epitomises the exploration of darkness, the significance of that statement is self-evident. A video of the track is currently being made.



Second song: “Tiden Läker Inga Sår” (Time Heals Nothing). As well as being tortured behind the microphone throughout most of the song, WATAIN’s Erik Danielsson makes an appearance on vocals on a track whose atmosphere is evocative of Led Zeppelin.



Third song: “Människa O’Avskyvärda Människa” (Man Despicable Man) could perhaps be the most groovy, yet most sinister and dark song from SHINING. Chris Amott of ARCH ENEMY contributes a magnificent solo on the track.



Fourth song: “Tillsammans Är Vi Allt” (Together We Are All) sheds an entirely new light on the band with its melancholic structure and the use of a grand piano as the lead instrument. The refrain is sung by Nordman, one of Sweden’s biggest pop stars.



Fifth song: “I Nattens Timma” (In The Night Hour). As can be expected with a SHINING album, there is always one track that differs from the rest, and this is the one, with only piano, mellotron and a guest vocal appearance by Peter Bjärgö of ARCANA.



Sixth song: “FFF” A track exploring family relationships, this is one of the most personal songs that Kvarforth has ever written.
